always two

Whether you are giving or receiving a massage, there are always two people being touched – the practitioner and the client.
It is the intention of the practitioner to promote healing in the client by eliciting the parasympathetic response of the peripheral nervous system. That is to say, the relaxation response – a slower heart rate, slower respiratory rate, lower blood pressure, less muscular tension, etc, because it is in this state that energy conservation, recovery, and healing can occur. The client’s skin is receiving the touch and communicating with the brain, and the brain then directs the body into that state of rest and digest.
But what about the practitioner? Their skin is receiving touch as well – and their skin is communicating with their brain as well – so is it possible that the practitioner is receiving the healing benefits of touch as well?
I know they are, as I experience a deep relaxation regularly after giving a massage treatment. What a fantastic unintentional benefit!
Two people touched, two people healed.
Try it, you’ll like it…
